The Catalyst programme brings together young people from all over Brussels to develop into the leaders of tomorrow.
Catalyst Talks feature some of the most inspiring and eminent thinkers and do-ers from around the world, on subjects ranging from economics or philosophy, to art and activism.

Practical details:

  • Our activities will take place at Full Circle House (Elsene-Ixelles, Brussels).
  • Catalyst is open to students from 14 to 19 years old.
  • Most activities take place in English, with some in French, Dutch and other languages - but all participants can speak their own language.

    Political thinker Lea Ypi recounts the captivating story of growing up in communist Albania and with remarkable talent explores the meaning of freedom in all its forms.

    ABOUT

    Lea Ypi is an Albanian author and academic. She is Professor in Political Theory at the London School of Economics, and Adjunct Associate Professor in Philosophy at the Research School of Social Sciences, Australian National University. Her research interests are in normative political theory (democratic theory, theories of justice, issues of migration and territorial rights), Enlightenment political thought, Marxism and critical theory, as well as the intellectual history of the BalkansHer latest book Free: Coming of Age at the End of History won the Ondaatje Prize and the Slightly Foxed First Biography Prize.

      ABOUT

      Anthony Grayling CBE, MA, DPhil (Oxon) FRSL, FRSA is Master of the New College of the Humanities, a Supernumerary Fellow of St Anne's College, Oxford and one of the UK's most prolific philosophers and authors. Grayling believes that philosophy should be integrated with society, taking on an active and useful role. He has written and edited over thirty books on philosophy and other subjects; among his most recent are The Good Book, Ideas That Matter, Liberty in the Age of Terror.

      We ask a voluntary participation fee of €5 per session.
