WE CAN FIX IT!

A Salon with Kimberly Nicholas

 Ideas Festival  / Sun 30th Nov / 6-7:30 pm

We know we live in a warming world and that we are the cause of it. And somehow we still wonder if and how we can fix it. Climate scientist Kimberly Nicholas has personally agonised over the climate costs of visiting loved ones overseas, on how to find low-carbon love on Tinder, and even on her complicated family legacy involving supermarket turkeys...and she’s a firm believer that yes, we can fix things.

Combining her scientific expertise with her lived experience and her pioneering work on individual climate action, she offers climate-concerned people a hopeful, clear-eyed (and sometimes hilarious) guide to effecting real change, starting in our own lives. While radical shifts are required within each of us to have an impact on society and culture, we also need to wake up and smell the coffee: we do have power for change and a role to play!

Kimberly restores our own agency and value, alongside a deep understanding that no one will ever hand us power. We’re going to have to seize it for ourselves.
