MAISKY & TROULLOS

Bassoon-piano duo

Brussels Muzieque

Music / Wed 12th Oct / 8 PM

You might have already enjoyed the bucolic colour of a bassoon solo during a symphonic performance (as in Stravinsky's 'Sacre du Printemps' opening, or within a wind quintet). However, it is a whole other experience to witness a recital where this unique instrument is only accompanied by a fellow pianist. You'll dive in a whole new universe of sounds and characters that only such a combination can concoct.

In this recital, pianist Lily Maisky and bassoonist Mavroudes Troullos, present you great romantic composers such as Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff, impressionists and symbolists such as Saint-Saens and Scriabin, among others.

They will take you through an explorative journey of the Bassoon's expression and virtuosity, combined with the monumental presence and versatility of the piano.
