Fundamentals for a New Economy

A salon with Shinta Oosterwaal

 Ideas Festival  / Sat 30th Nov / 5-6.30 pm

Believe it or not there actually is an alternative to the growth-based consumer capitalism which currently dominates our economic system. Everywhere, in communities across the world, people are working together as part of a global transformation toward a life-affirming future. They may not be fully conscious of the great movement in which they're participating, but they’re driven by core human imperatives to care for others around them, nurture the living Earth, and strive to leave a healthy world for future generations to inherit. Possibly the greatest collaborative human project in history: the transition towards an ecological civilisation. How does this transformation come about? How can we sustain it? Economist and holistic psychotherapist Shinta Oosterwaal takes us on the pathway with rare insights and a much needed holistic vision. Come join her.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Shinta Oosterwaal is an economist and also a psychotherapist. She has advised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on fair economic development for many years. In her coaching practice, she moves international leaders and teams from business as usual in a conventional economy to business unusual for a renewed economy. Shinta specializes in systemic work, applied at individual, organizational and societal level, often with large groups. Her parallel training as psychotherapist makes for an insightful systems thinker. She’s driven by a passion to bring together the deeply human perspective and the worldly economic developments - and to actively relate people to the world around them. With her skills as a therapist and system facilitator, she’s well equipped to show how the potential for change appears to lie within us. That driving force is a starting point for shaping change.
