Evening Salon / Thurs 8 Nov / 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Why do our European systems of governments and justice differ so widely from the East? Why is secularism not as powerful a force in the Islamic world as in Europe? How do we understand China? Popular philosopher Julian Baggini is back at Full Circle to speak about his latest, ambitious journey into how the world thinks. He offers a global overview of human thought covering the West, East Asia and the Muslim world and the oft-neglected philosophies transmitted in oral traditions. What we call ‘philosophy’ in the West isn’t even half the story. By gaining greater knowledge of how others think, we can become less certain of the knowledge we think we have, which is the first step to greater understanding.
Julian Baggini will also give a talk to teenagers, see our TeenTalk with Julian Baggini.
