Shereen El-Feki TEENTALK

Behind the veil

14/06/2017
4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Adventurous author and gender equality expert Shereen El-Feki has spent years quizzing Arab women and men of all ages about the most personal aspects of their lives, exploring taboos and debunking myths around sex and sexuality. While in Brussels, she will share her compelling findings with us, revealing what lies behind the veil of societies and cultures that we should know better. In her clear and passionate style she will take you on a journey through the inner lives of both men and women in the region, telling how they see their changing roles in society, the changing place of women in Arab societies and around the world. El-Feki will also be explaining the privileges but also the unexpected pressures of being a man in the Arab world today. Shereen’s keen interest in wanting to understand people has set her on the path of exploring a controversial subject against a conservative set up. Curious to explore what lies behind the veil?
