5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Have your friends ever told you to ‘just do it’ because #yolo, or to ‘be in the moment’ and live as if you might die tomorrow? The spirit of carpe diem, seize the day, is one of the oldest pieces of life advice in Western history. Carpe diem reminds us to live with greater passion, consciousness and intention, so we don’t end up with regrets. Is there anything wrong with it? Roman Krznaric believes there is.
Today the spirit of carpe diem has been highjacked by consumer culture. ‘Just do it’ really means ‘just buy it’. If we want to live our lives to the fullest, we need to claim it back! Roman has delved into the life of great carpe diem figures, and explored carpe diem from history to neuroscience to find out that, over the centuries, human beings have invented smart and powerful ways of seizing the day that we urgently need to revive. Come and hear how we can all recapture the art of seizing the day.
Listen, talk, exchange with Roman Krznaric and other young participants at the Full Circle TeenTalk.
